We stayed at the Ritz hotel in August 2010. The hotel was clean & the room was very large. We had 2 rooms booked & both were just as we asked for. Comfortable & no negative "surprises" with our room. The staff at the hotel was extremely helpful. The bellman can not be beat! They know everything about everything in their city. If you stay here, be sure to ask them about places to see & especially places to eat! They were great. We rented a car through the hotel & unfortunately we were involved in an accident! The hotel manager came out to greet us upon our return to the hotel & was extremely helpful with the insurance paperwork for the car. The hotel is near all sights & many eating venues. We would stay there again in a heartbeat!

The Ritz is a very good hotel. The staff is very solicitous, however at times they are unclear on basic hotel info. For example, we asked if there was a charge for the internet and the front desk did not immediately know--there is a charge; its $*/day, which is ridiculous for a hotel of this caliber. In addition, the internet did not work. The doormen were great and made some good suggestions for restaurants and transportation. The hotel has a great location in Nob Hill within easy walking distance of Union Square, China Town and other tourist locations. The decor is very nice if you like the opulent traditional look. Overall an excellent hotel.

Truly a 5 star hotel. The staff were courteous and friendly. The rooms were absolutely lovely. Fresh, clean and very comfortable with excellent facilities. The staff took the trouble to know our names which made us feel extra welcome in a foriegn country. We would most definately love to revisit.

The lobby is spectacular and our room was very lovely. I thought the beds were comfortable but my daughter didn't like hers but then she has a Sleep Number bed at home. We weren't told by Travelocity that there was a $*.00 a nite charge for our rental car. We hadn't been to San Francisco before and wanted to get everywhere, but that was an extra $*00 we hadn't planned on. Room service could use a little upgrade. Breakfast is best. We have traveled very little and didn't know that the hotel has a business center so we called the front desk about renting a computer. The lady gave us the phone number of someone called a "roamer" and he wanted $*a day for the computer rental. Needless to say we didn't rent one. She never bothered to tell us about the business center. We enjoyed our trip though and will be more savy the next time. When it comes right down to it, there really isn't too much help out there from anyone. Personal agendas, you know. Oh, and since they are listing me as mature ( I am 62) with teens I have to say my daughter is 30.

This is a truly beautiful hotel. I brought my family along as I was attending a conference at the hotel. Our room was large, especially for San Francisco, and was very clean. The hotel staff was wonderful, we checked in early without any hassle. The meeting rooms were typical large hotel meeting rooms, but the lunches served as part of the conference were by far the best conference food I have ever had. Very convenient location, near Chinatown, Union Square, and Cable Car line. Market/Powell Bart station about 6 blocks south of the hotel, but its a steep uphill walk from the station to the hotel. You can take the cable car up the hotel (the Bart station is right by the end of the cable car line, but I wouldn't suggest trying to take luggage on the cable car, if they would even let you. If future conferences are held at this hotel, I will give them extra consideration.
