Very central in San francisco - you can walk to most places (museums, the Ferry Building, shopping), and where you can't, a taxi is close by. Martini's at the Pied Piper bar are a must! These aren't just any cocktails, these are the real thing. Eating brunch in the main hall is quite an experience as well. A real landmark, which allows you to forgive the noises here and there while you're in your hotel room.

I had a very nice stay at the Palace Hotel - but with a few minor exceptions as well. What I loved: The attentive service by every staff member I encountered A terrific shower - it looks old-school, but it's not! Beautiful and well maintained amenities What I didn't love: -The sounds coming from one neighboring room were so easy to hear I swear the wall was made of cardboard. I could hear EVERY word of the guest and the person he was speaking to (they were conversing over a speaker phone). I did not complain because I could tell it was a reasonable speaking voice they were using. Strangely, I never heard any other sounds from the hallway or from rooms above or below ours. - The added charges for internet usage in the hotel room. When I booked my room, I thought I'd read reviews of this hotel and that wifi was included for free in guestrooms. Included for a fee I did not expect and do not like. Overall I really liked the hotel and would choose to stay there again.

We have stayed st the Palace since I was a child and it has always been a wonderous experience; especially the Garden Court at Christmas time. This occasion was my Granddaughter debut with the Cotillion of San Francisco. The Hotel handled the event with total professionalism, the room, the staff, perfect for our stay. The breakfast next morning in the Garden Court , the best in many our travels. The Palace knows how to entertain. Thank you so much, for a special evening for our family.

Granted, our room was $ which is a deal for this hotel. But for that we had a room with only one nightstand (had to use a chair) $ for internet is ridiculous these days, and parking $ a night was high. Went to dining room at 6:25a.m., wide open with staff sitting and talking. I began to come in and was told to wait in the lobby for five minutes. Bar was so incredibly noisy that we could literally not converse. They have closed the main opulent dining room for dinner. Our thinking is that a hotel of this presumed stature would offer <more> amenities, not less.
